Synopsis

The NIDDK, intends to publish a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) to solicit applications for research on collecting and analyzing data from clinical trials involving isolated human islets as a treatment for diabetes.  This data will be used by research community for publications and presentations and to help design future clinical trials.  Additionally, CITR will prepare periodic reports summarizing islet transplantation outcomes and trends overs time to inform the public. Additionally, CITR will conduct periodic meetings of the contributing sites. Applications are not being solicited currently. Notice is being provided to allow potential applicants sufficient time to develop meaningful collaborations and responsive projects.  This NOFO will utilize the {U01 Clinical Trial Not Allowed Cooperative Agreement} activity code. Investigators with expertise and insights into this area of {Clinical Trial Data Collection} are encouraged to begin to consider applying for this new NOFO. In addition, collaborative investigations combining expertise in {Data Analyses} will be encouraged and these investigators should also begin considering applying for this NOFO.
