Real grants, explained in plain English.

Each one comes straight from live government data, with a plain-English summary, the key facts, and a link to the official listing. The colored labels are our own opinion, added by hand for this page. The free Tuesday digest doesn't include them. One label says Skip: the fourth grant sounds like money to scale up any energy technology, but it is only for technology ARPA-E has already funded. The awards here reach into the millions, with nothing to repay. Members get grants checked against their own organization, with an alert the day a real match posts.

Office of Science Financial Assistance Program: the FY 2027 Open Solicitation

The Department of Energy's Office of Science keeps one call open all fiscal year for any research inside its mission: advanced scientific computing, basic energy sciences, biological and environmental research, fusion, high energy and nuclear physics, and isotope R&D. About $400M, subject to appropriations, with no cost sharing for basic and fundamental research. Grants.gov lists awards of $5,000 to $10M; the NOFO sets no overall award size, and several of its program areas name their own budgets. Eligibility is about as broad as federal research money gets: every type of applicant except 501(c)(4) nonprofits that lobbied after 1995, with DOE's own national labs joining only as subrecipients; a company must show the work advances basic science, since the call does not fund commercial activity. Apply any time until September 30, 2027, or until a successor call replaces this one; some review panels require a preliminary application, and many topics recommend one.

Faculty Early Career Development Program (CAREER)

NSF calls these its most prestigious awards for early career faculty, and one competition runs across every NSF directorate, from biology and computing to engineering, geosciences and education. NSF plans about 500 awards a year, each a five year grant of at least $400,000 ($500,000 in biology, engineering and polar programs), with no cost share; its roughly $250M annual budget also covers the later years of earlier awards. The catch is who can lead one: an untenured assistant professor, or the equivalent, with a doctorate and a tenure track (or equivalent) appointment of at least 50% at a U.S. college, university or nonprofit research or education organization, who has never won a CAREER award. A single PI, one proposal a year, and three competitions at most. One deadline covers every CAREER proposal, whatever the directorate: the fourth Wednesday in July, next July 28, 2027.

Parent SBIR [R43/R44], Clinical Trial Optional

The flagship R&D grant for commercializing biomedical or health technology, with no equity and nothing to repay. Only U.S. small businesses can apply, so this is the spinout lane: a company applies, and the science rides with it. R43 funds Phase I feasibility; R44 funds Phase II development. Applications close April 5, 2027.

ARPA-E SCALEUP Ready: Seeding Critical Advances for Leading Energy Technologies with Untapped Potential

Heads up: the name reads like scaleup money for any energy technology, and it isn't. The listing says it plainly: SCALEUP Ready “seeks to scale the most promising technologies previously funded by ARPA-E”, meaning projects not yet commercial that carry bench scale performance to a commercially scalable version. Awards run $5M to $20M, cost sharing is required, and the call is open continuously until amended, with a listed close of September 29, 2029. Skip unless ARPA-E has already funded your technology: this is the step after an ARPA-E award, not a first one.

Why the timing matters: of the 500+ federal grants open right now, 25+ close within 30 days. On a weekly cycle you can hear about one with days left on it, or after it has already shut. Same day alerts exist to close that gap. Applying early is not itself an advantage; missing the window entirely is the thing that costs you.

FAQ

Questions before you sign up.

Isn't this data free on Grants.gov?

The data is. Finding the two or three opportunities that are actually right for you, week after week, and knowing which to skip, is not. That's the work you're paying us to do for you.

Who runs Grants Radar?

Grants Radar is an independent service based in Springdale, Arkansas, with one owner who answers for it. The nightly data refresh and the Tuesday digest run as automated jobs; member alerts are tailored to each organization's profile; and support email is answered by the operator. More on the About page.

Do you help write applications?

No. Grants Radar surfaces, summarizes, and rates opportunities and links you to official sources. We don't write proposals or provide legal or financial advice. Always verify against the official solicitation.

What about federal contracts?

Yes. Our contract opportunities page is free to browse and lists live SAM.gov contract notices, updated daily from SAM.gov's official extract. Paid matching, same day alerts, and the Tuesday digest cover grants only. Our grants vs. contracts guide explains the split.

What about state grants?

Yes, for the states we cover. Our state grants page is free to browse and lists each covered state's open programs from that state's own official source, rebuilt daily and marked with its date (the source's own stamp, or the day we read it). Paid matching, alerts, and the Tuesday digest cover federal grants only. Coverage is stated on that page, state by state: a state appears there only when its rows are in our store.

What if I pay and it's not useful?

Every paid plan is refundable in full for 30 days: email support within 30 days and you get a full refund. You can cancel anytime, and every free digest carries an unsubscribe link, no login needed.

Why do you ask for a card on a free trial?

So your alerts start on day one and keep running without a gap. $0 charged today. On day 31 your card is charged $29/mo. Cancel any time before then and pay nothing. One free trial per customer. The free Tuesday digest never asks for a card.

What exactly gets checked?

Every open federal grant, checked against your organization. The small print under the free signup form spells out exactly which listings count. One reply sets your profile, your frequency, and how picky your alerts are.
